An Xbox is not a disposable device — most of the failures we see are a single port, fan, or drive, not a dead console. Aura Tech repairs Xbox Series X, Series S, and Xbox One consoles in our Christiansburg shop, so your console never gets boxed up and shipped to an out-of-state depot. Gamers in Blacksburg, Radford, Virginia Tech dorms, and across the New River Valley bring us consoles every week.

Every console starts with a $25 diagnostic, credited toward your repair. We tell you plainly what failed, what it costs, and how long it will take — and if the repair isn't worth it, we'll say so instead of selling you one.

What's included

HDMI port replacement

Black screen, no signal, or a wiggly cable? The HDMI port is the most common Series X failure — we desolder and replace it at the board level.

Overheating & loud fans

Full teardown, dust and pet-hair cleanout, fresh thermal paste and pads so the console runs cool and quiet again.

Disc drive repair

Won't read discs, won't eject, or grinding on insert — drive belts, laser assemblies, and full drive swaps.

Won't power on

Internal power supply, power button, and board diagnostics for consoles that click, flash, or do nothing at all.

Storage upgrades

Expansion card installs and internal drive help so you stop deleting games to make room.

Controller repair

Stick drift, sticky bumpers, dead triggers, and worn charge ports on Xbox wireless controllers.

Software & account help

Update loops, corrupted system files, offline system updates, and account or network sign-in issues.

Xbox One & older consoles

We still service Xbox One, One S, and One X — HDMI, drives, fans, and power boards.

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to fix an Xbox HDMI port?

It depends on whether the port alone failed or nearby board components were damaged too. HDMI port replacement is one of our most common console repairs and we quote it in writing after the $25 diagnostic — you approve the price before any work begins.

My Xbox Series X turns on but there's no picture. What's wrong?

Usually a damaged HDMI port on the console, though it can also be the cable, the TV input, or in rarer cases the video output circuitry. The $25 diagnostic tells us which, and we test with known-good cables and displays before quoting.

Why is my Xbox so loud all of a sudden?

Almost always dust, pet hair, and dried thermal paste. A full teardown, cleanout, and repaste drops temperatures and quiets the fan back to normal. It also protects the console from long-term heat damage.

Can you fix an Xbox that won't read discs?

Yes. Disc drives fail in a few predictable ways — a worn laser, a slipping belt, or a jammed loading mechanism. We repair the drive when we can and swap it when we can't.

How long does an Xbox repair take?

Most console repairs finish in 2–5 business days. Repairs that need a specialty part like a disc drive or replacement board component can take a bit longer, and we'll tell you the timeline in the quote.

Do you repair Xbox Series S and Xbox One too?

Yes — Series X, Series S, Xbox One, One S, and One X. The common failures are similar across all of them: HDMI ports, cooling, disc drives, and power.

Will I lose my games or saves?

No. We don't wipe consoles as part of a repair, and your saves sync to your Xbox account anyway. If a repair would require a factory reset, we'll ask you first.

Do you offer a warranty on console repairs?

Yes — 90 days on parts and labor for most console repairs, covering the specific repair we performed.
