Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before bringing in your tech.
Where is Aura Tech located?+
We're inside the Uptown Christiansburg mall at 782 New River Rd STE 750, Christiansburg, VA 24073 — beside Henebry's Jewelers and directly across from Bath & Body Works. We're right off the 460 corridor and a quick drive from Blacksburg, Radford, and Virginia Tech.
What areas do you serve?+
Our shop is in Christiansburg, and we regularly serve customers from Blacksburg, Virginia Tech, Radford, Pulaski, Dublin, Pearisburg, Elliston, Shawsville, Fairlawn, and the rest of the New River Valley.
How much does computer repair cost?+
We give upfront estimates before any work begins. Every repair is quoted upfront so there are no surprises on your bill.
Do you warranty repairs?+
Yes — every repair carries a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on the specific repair we performed. Custom PCs we assemble carry a 1-year warranty on our workmanship, and the parts themselves pass through the manufacturer warranty.
Do you pick up from Virginia Tech or Radford?+
Yes — free round-trip on-campus pickup and delivery for Virginia Tech and Radford students with a valid student ID. It's normally $20. Diagnostics are always free.
How long do repairs take?+
Most software and overheating jobs are fixed same-day, and most other repairs are done within 24–72 hours when parts are in stock. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the lead time up front.
Do you work on Macs?+
Yes. We service Mac and PC laptops and desktops, including screen replacement, battery swaps, SSD upgrades, OS reinstalls, and data recovery.
Are you a cheaper alternative to the big-box tech counters?+
Generally yes — we're a small local shop with no upsells, no membership fees, and honest upfront quotes. We also explain what's going on in plain English.
Can you build a custom gaming PC?+
Absolutely. We build custom PCs for gaming, work, and family use at any budget, and include full setup, OS installation, and configuration. Most builds take 3–5 business days from parts approval.
Do you convert VHS tapes to digital?+
Yes. We convert VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, and other tape formats to digital files on a USB drive, with DVD copies available on request.
Do you offer tech help for Virginia Tech students?+
Yes — we're a quick drive from campus, and we prioritize fast turnaround for students with class deadlines, exams, or projects on the line.
What are your hours?+
We're open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed Sunday and Monday.
